Break-Even ROAS Calculator

Know how much an order can afford in ads.

Use your order revenue and variable costs to calculate break-even ROAS, maximum acquisition cost and the return needed to keep a chosen profit per order.

Your inputs

Prefilled figures are hypothetical examples, not benchmarks or forecasts. Replace them with your own data.

Use revenue after discounts and refunds, consistently excluding pass-through taxes.

Direct product or service-delivery cost.

For example, shipping or fulfillment not included above.

Only percentage fees not already included in the cost fields.

Profit to retain after the entered variable costs and advertising.

Use contribution margin, not revenue alone

Contribution per order is revenue minus product costs, other variable costs and percentage fees. That contribution is the maximum ad cost the order can carry before it loses money on the costs included here.

Break-even ROAS = order revenue ÷ contribution per order. A 2.5× result means $2.50 in order revenue for each $1 spent on advertising.

Add a profit target

Subtract the desired profit from contribution to get the target maximum ad cost. Divide revenue by that amount to get target ROAS. If costs already consume all revenue, there is no positive ad budget at break-even. If the target consumes all contribution, it cannot be reached with positive ad spending under these assumptions.

This is a per-order model. It excludes fixed overhead, repeat purchases, lifetime value and costs you have not entered. Use consistent revenue attribution when comparing its result with an ad platform.

This tool processes your inputs in your browser. It does not upload them or keep a server-side input history.
