What are you building?

Use the full destination URL. Existing non-UTM parameters and page anchors are kept.

Campaign details

utm_source — where the visit comes from, such as google or linkedin.

utm_medium — the channel, such as email, cpc or social.

utm_campaign — a name you can recognise in your reports.

Optional parameters: content, term, campaign ID and source platform

utm_content — distinguish creatives or link placements.

utm_term — identify a keyword where manual tagging is used.

utm_id — use the same ID as your campaign records.

utm_source_platform — the platform directing traffic.

UTM values are case-sensitive. This changes tag values only, never the destination path. Keep it off if your campaign names or dynamic placeholders need their original case.

Source, medium and campaign name are required for each output link. In bulk mode, supply them in the CSV or use the form as defaults.

How to use the UTM Builder

  1. Enter the page you want visitors to reach.
  2. Add the source, medium and campaign name. Use optional fields when you need to distinguish individual links.
  3. Build the URL, check it, and copy it into your email, ad or social post. For a batch, upload the template CSV and download the results.

For example, utm_source=newsletter, utm_medium=email and utm_campaign=fall_launch describe an email campaign. Google Analytics must already be installed and collecting data on the destination site; this tool creates the link, not the tracking setup.

Use consistent campaign names

Fall_Launch and fall_launch are different values. Choose a naming convention and use it across your team. The lowercase option is available when that matches your convention. Keep personal information out of campaign tags.

Will this overwrite existing UTM tags?

Yes. The seven UTM fields managed by this tool are replaced, including duplicate or differently capitalised versions. Blank optional fields remove their existing tags. Other query parameters and the fragment after # are preserved. Other UTM fields outside these seven are left as they are.

How do bulk defaults work?

CSV values take priority. A blank cell or missing UTM column uses the matching form value. Each row is checked separately; invalid rows appear in the CSV with an error message and no generated link. The page previews the first 30 rows; the download includes every processed row.

Should I add UTMs to internal website links?

Use these tags for links that bring visitors to your site from campaigns. For navigation within your own website, use normal internal links and event tracking where appropriate.

Do I need manual UTMs for Google Ads?

Check your Google Ads and Analytics setup first. If auto-tagging is configured, you may not need manual tags. This builder preserves existing click IDs but does not check your account settings or attribution reports.

Are my URLs or CSV files saved?

This tool processes inputs in your browser and does not upload them, save a history or connect to an advertising account. Download or copy the result before closing the page. Generating a link does not test whether the destination exists or whether Analytics records visits.
